Helping Pets Find Their Way Home: Sponsor Our Pet Tag Program Today!
By donating to this program, you will be helping us purchase pet tags that we can give away for free to owners picking up their pets and new adopters! Your generosity means more pets will find their way home, back to the families that love them!
According to the ASPCA, approximately 6.3 million pets enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year (3.1 million dogs, 3.2 million cats). Shockingly, only about 810,000 animals that arrive as strays in these shelters are successfully reunited with their owners.
High Country Humane is contracted wit the City of Flagstaff and Coconino County as the official animal shelter. We work 365 days a year to care for abandoned/sick/injured animals, reunite lost pets with their families, and provide adoption services along with many other resources to this community. In 2022, we had 3,218 intakes with 2,571 of those being strays. Regrettably, only 589 of these lost pets were returned to their families.
Our goal is to increase the "Return To Owner" (RTO) rates for the communities we serve. With your support & generous donations, we were able to purchase a Pet Tag Engraver for our shelter! For the first year of having it, we've committed to providing FREE pet tags (for dogs/cats) to individuals who are either retrieving their pets from our shelter or adopting. However, our aspiration is to expand this initiative well beyond its initial year.
A pet wearing a tag is more likely to be returned to its owner by the person who found them, meaning they can avoid a visit to the shelter completely! We believe that the BEST place for a pet is in their home, with the families that love them, not in a kennel at the over-full shelter! You can help us achieve our goal by donating to this fundraiser. All funds collect will be used to purchase more tags/rings/collars to give to owners picking up lost pets or adopting new ones.
